			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Dieting is far too often approached from the mindset of impending failure. Too many people have tried and failed so many diets in their past that they try the next new diet with the absolute knowledge that they will fail in this attempt as well. Guess what? They will.</p>
<p>Henry Ford once said, &#8220;If you think you can or think you can&#8217;t you will always be right.&#8221; If you think you are going to fail at this diet you are dooming yourself to failure before you even deprive yourself of the first bite. Think about that before you begin because only a true masochist could find pleasure in perpetuating this vicious cycle without ever stopping to wonder why none of the other diets have worked for you. Henry Ford also said, &#8220;Failure is only the opportunity to begin again more intelligently&#8221;. In case you were wondering I would say his words are quite profound. Seriously though, if you do not examine the reasons for your failures you are certainly dooming yourself to repeat them and if you are already planning to fail why on earth would you even try?</p>
<p>You are the only person who can take control of your need to eat. You are the only one who can pay attention and notice when you are eating for emotional fulfillment and when you are eating from necessity. You and you alone can get yourself out of your chair and on your feet. You are the only one that can take the responsibility for the condition in which you find yourself. There are medical exceptions but even in these situations if you are trying diet after diet and failing over and over again then you must at some point in time realize that it is quite likely not the diets that aren&#8217;t working.</p>

<p>We must all be accountable for our successes and failures in life. It is no different when it comes to dieting. There are few better feelings in the world than for someone to notice and compliment your efforts. If you are very obese unfortunately, it may take a little more time for people to actually notice the weight you&#8217;ve lost. Too many men and women give up simply because no one noticed and that is an incredible shame. Give your dieting practices an opportunity to work before you decide they are a failure and you just might surprise yourself with a roaring success.</p>
<p>The truth is far too few people hold themselves accountable to their dieting and weight loss goals. This means that far too many people are giving up without really ever bothering to give it an effort. If you have an issue holding yourself accountable to your dieting plans, perhaps you would do well to diet with a partner. This helps you not only set goals but also to meet and exceed challenges along the way. A partner can also benefit from the partnership as he or she will be challenged and feel the need to perform better than if he or she were dieting alone.</p>
<p>You must hold yourself accountable to your stated dieting and weight loss goals in order to achieve any lasting results. If you have not had dieting success in the past, then perhaps it is time to bring some degree of accountability into the picture and make it happen.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>There are hundreds of new products, pills and routines out there that will claim to be the fastest way to build muscle to burn fat. Some of these products do work. Some of them will make you feel guilty for buying them in the first place. The rest are just a pile of junk and you know it.</p>
<p>Of course there are some that DO work, but they are short cuts that don&#8217;t give permanent results. Most of the products come up with a single routine to follow forever. Your body adapts to any routine within 4 weeks. Don&#8217;t you wonder why you suddenly get stuck when trying to burn fat and build muscle? <span id="more-23"></span></p>
<p>Did you know that muscle burns a lot of fat just to survive in your body? Therefore, the easiest way to burn fat and build muscle is by actually focus on building muscle, and the fat will just go away helping your muscle to grow in the process!</p>
<p>1. Pick total body compound movements like Deadlifts, Squats, Weighted Pushups, Chinups and Pullups for hard core muscle building and fat burning. No isolated movements would give you the same results at such a speed.</p>
<p>2. If you want real muscle growth, you need to work hard in every workout. Go to your max. Compete against yourself in your previous workout. If you did 8 reps Bench Press with 150 lbs last week, go for 9 or 10 reps with the same weight in your next workout. Or increase your weight and train to failure. Keep progressing in every workout.</p>
<p>3. Eat to build lean muscle not fatty jiggle. Focus on feeding your body with low GI carbs, fruits and green fibrous vegetables to build the lean, ripped body you need. Stay away from junk food.</p>
<p>4. Get rest. This might come as a shocked to you but rest is necessary to build muscle. You don&#8217;t build muscle during the workout. It happens during the time you give you rest for your muscles to complete repairs. Take a week off every 8 to 10 weeks for optimum results.</p>
<p>5. Focus on free weights and body weight exercises. Never use a machine unless it is for something like a kneeling cable crunch which is a great exercise for the abs.</p>
<p>If you follow these 5 simple steps, you will be away ahead of the rest of the crowd who work their butts off in the gym trying to get in better shape. You will turn heads in a few weeks if you follow the steps recommended to burn fat and build muscle accordingly.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In the United States obesity is reaching epidemic levels. More and more people are turning to weight loss pills in hopes of shedding those unsightly pounds.  With the New Year right around the corner, stores will have their shelves well stocked with weight loss pills in anticipation of the after holiday rush. But do weight loss pills really work?</p>
<p>Weight loss pills do work, but not to the degree most people think.  Back in the early 1990&#8242;s when ephedra was first introduced, it was touted as a miracle weight loss supplement and to some, including myself  it was.  When you combined ephedra with caffeine and aspirin, this &#8220;stack&#8221; burned fat like butter on a hot stove.<span id="more-100"></span></p>
<p>Unfortunately along with its fat burning power, there was a long list of side effects as well. Many could not handle the powerful stimulant affects of this compound and it was blamed for many deaths.  Whether or not this was true, the writing was on the wall and ephedra was banned in the United States and is no longer available.</p>
<p>Are there any compounds that work as well as ephedra?</p>
<p>Yes, but ephedra set the bar very high and there really isn&#8217;t anything new (save for possibly one) that matches its fat burning power.</p>
<p>Green tea and Hoodia are currently two of the most popular weight loss supplements in stores today.  There have been mixed reviews on both, but Green tea has more scientific studies to back its claims.  Never the less, they both fall far short of the fat burning power of ephedra.</p>
<p>There is however one promising compound that seems to block fructose from converting to adipose tissue.</p>
<p>Why the concern about fructose?</p>
<p>Fructose may be the reason why so many Americans are obese today.  The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition was quoted as saying:</p>
<p>&#8220;evidence that a marked increase in the use of HFCS, and therefore in total fructose consumption, preceded the obesity epidemic and may be an important contributor to this epidemic in the United States.&#8221;</p>
<p>Over the last thirty years, there has been a 40% drop in the use of cane sugar and a 300% increase in the use of high fructose corn syrups!  If you look at the label of most products on supermarket shelves today, you will likely find high fructose corn syrup as an ingredient.</p>
<p>What is this new natural substance?</p>
<p>This all natural compound is derived from the roots of Scutellaria baicalensis and Heartwood of Acacia.  There more common names are Chinese skullcap and &#8220;Black catechu&#8221;.</p>
<p>What does this compound do?</p>
<p>There are two obesity markers in the blood stream that this natural compound substantially decreases.  Chronically obese people have high levels of these two markers. These natural compounds inhibit fat conversion via fructose pathways by down-regulating fat accumulation and up-regulating fat breakdown, thereby decreasing these two obesity markers.</p>
<p>Subjects between the ages of 40 and 75 participated in an independent double blind scientific study conducted by scientists at JSS Medical Research, Inc., in Montreal, Canada.  None of the participants were given any advice on dieting or exercise and typically this age group has the most difficult time at losing weight.</p>
<p>The results of the study were eye opening.  Those that were not given the compound averaged zero pounds of weight loss, while those given the natural compound lost on average 7% of their body weight.</p>
<p>Their results would likely have been much better if they combined an exercise program along with a sensible diet.</p>
<p>These compounds show a lot of promise and may very well hold the key to the obesity epidemic, especially for those who consume a lot of fructose in their diets.  Always check with your physician before taking any weight loss supplement.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Atkins diet is not a new phenomenon. The diet first appeared in the late 1970s and has grown popularity in recent years in response to the low-fat diet craze. As dieters had trouble with low-fat plans, they searched for a new solution and Dr. Atkins’ New Diet Revolution book found a new audience. A lot of people have jumped on the Atkins bandwagon and there has been a lot of hype as a result. But what are the basic principles of the Atkins diet?</p>
<p>The Atkins diet is based on a theory of why we get fat. According to Dr. Atkins, the over-consumption of carbohydrates and simple sugars leads to weight gain. The way your body processes the carbohydrates you eat have more to do with your waistline than the amount of fat or calories that you consume. In his book, Atkins outlines a phenomenon called “insulin resistance.” He theorizes that many overweight people have cells that do not work correctly. <span id="more-382"></span></p>
<p>When you eat excess carbohydrates and sugar, your body notices that sugar levels are elevated. Insulin is released from the pancreas in order to store sugar as glycogen in the liver and muscle cells for extra energy later on. However, your body can only store so much glycogen at once. As soon as your body reaches its limit for glycogen storage, the excess carbohydrates are stored as fat. This happens to everyone who eats too many carbohydrates.</p>
<p>However, insulin resistant individuals have an even harder time of using and storing excess carbohydrates. The more insulin that your body is exposed to, the more resistant it becomes. Overtime, the pancreas releases more insulin and cells become insulin resistant. The cells are trying to protect themselves from the toxic effects of high insulin. They create less glycogen and more fat.</p>
<p>As a result, insulin resistant individuals gain extra weight. The carbohydrates get converted into fat instead of energy. Other side effects include fatigue, brain “fog” (the inability to focus, poor memory, loss of creativity), low blood sugar (which can leads to hypoglycemia), intestinal bloating, sleepiness, depression and increased blood sugar. There is much more than weight at stake when you are insulin resistant.</p>
<p>The remedy for people who are insulin resistant is a diet restricted in carbohydrates. The crux of the Atkins diet is a limitation of carbohydrates in all of its forms. The foods restricted on the Atkins plan include simple sugars (like cookies, sodas and sweets) and complex carbohydrates (like bread, rice and grains). Even carbohydrates that are considered healthy, such as oatmeal, brown rice and whole wheat bread, are restricted on the program.</p>
<p>The diet has you restrict your carbohydrate intake to less than 40 grams a day. This will put your body in a state of ketosis. While in ketosis, your body will burn fat as fuel. According to Dr. Atkins’ research, the ketosis state will also affect insulin production and it will prevent more fat from being formed. Your body will begin using your stored fat as an efficient form of fuel, and you’ll lose weight.<br />
Another benefit of the Atkins plan is that ketosis will end your cravings for carbohydrates. If you’ve been living on a carb-heavy diet, you may have found that you simply cannot get enough carbohydrates. With carbohydrate restriction and ketosis comes a reduction in carbohydrate cravings. People who have been on the Atkins diet for some time report that they do not crave carbohydrates as they once did.</p>
<p>Although the initial phases of the Atkins diet are rather strict, the program teaches you to restore balance to your diet in the long run. People who use the diet slowly reintroduce minimal amounts of carbohydrate into their eating until they find a comfortable balance between their health and carbohydrate use.</p>
<p>The basic principles of the Atkins diet have been adapted to many other low-carb diet plans. However, Atkins popularity still remains strong as one of the most effective low-carbohydrate solutions for those who are insulin resistant.</p>

<p>The environment is another reason that is given for being a vegetarian. With all the worry and concern over global warming it is amazing that more people have not become aware of the environmental problem that is created by steer farms in the world. The production of meat involves the raising of millions of cattle that are bred for this purpose specifically. Cattle are responsible for more carbon released into the atmosphere than any other carbon releasing entity. If there is truly a need to protect the world from the effects of global warming then living a vegetarian lifestyle is the most effective thing one person can do to help the environment.</p>

<p>How the Procedure Works</p>
<p>Lap Band surgery is technically called laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding. The goal of the surgery is to help the patient achieve significant weight loss by limiting the amount of food that the stomach can hold at one time. Other bariatric surgeries involve actually changing the size of the stomach, or bypassing portions of the stomach altogether. Lap Band surgery is different, because it does not cut the stomach at all.</p>
<p>Instead, this surgery makes the stomach smaller by placing a silicone band around the upper portion of the organ. The band is a hollow tube that is filled with sterile saline, which makes it completely adjustable. It creates a pouch where the food that the patient eats enters to begin the digestive process. The pouch has an opening that allows the food to flow slowly into the rest of the stomach. This opening can be made smaller or larger depending on the patient&#8217;s needs by changing the amount of saline in the band. The band is put in place laparoscopically, which reduces much of the trauma on the body caused by stomach stapling or rerouting procedures.</p>
<p>After the patient is under anesthetic, the physician will begin the procedure by making several small incisions into the abdominal wall. The instruments for the surgery are inserted through tubes placed in these incisions. One such tool is a camera that shows the physician what is happening inside the body. Using small surgical instruments, the band is put in place and secured around the stomach. Once it is in place, the instruments and tubes are removed, the incisions are closed, and the surgery is complete.</p>
<p>Weight Loss After Surgery</p>
<p>The weight loss surgery creates a small gastric pouch at the top of the stomach. This pouch limits how much food the patient can eat. It also slows down the rate at which the stomach can empty into the intestines, effectively slowing the digestion rate. This allows the patient to feel full for a longer period of time.</p>
<p>Sometimes patients who have Lapband surgery do not experience enough weight loss or lose weight too rapidly. Either problem can be resolved by adjusting the band to allow more or less food through the opening. Adjusting the LapBand device is simple, because an access port is placed just underneath the skin during the surgery. A thin needle can add or remove saline from the band through this port whenever the patient&#8217;s doctor thinks it is necessary, and this procedure takes just a few minutes to do.</p>

In their effort to find the holy grail of weight loss products, some people have to be the first to try the latest thing on any products available. After all, whoever heard of an overweight person suing a chemical company for not helping them lose weight?</p>
<p>The third category is those who really don&#8217;t care one way or the other. They often admit that they could do with losing a little weight, or perhaps more than just a little, but have no desire to pop unknown chemicals in tablet form into their mouth, preferring good honest food instead.</p>
<p>Well now there really is a method that can have extraordinary effects on anyone who uses it, helping weight loss become a reality at last. Look in the mirror, unfortunately you&#8217;ll likely see it there too. If you&#8217;ve made fast weight loss your goal, keep these simple things in mind to take off the pounds quickly and safely.</p>
<p>When people want to lose weight one of the most common things they do is to skip meals. Hey, if eating fewer calories is the goal then why not skip breakfast or lunch. Doesn&#8217;t weight loss come with eating less calories? That&#8217;s correct but skipping meals isn&#8217;t the right way to reduce calories. Your body thinks it&#8217;s being starved when you skip meals. It goes into &#8220;starvation&#8221; mode. It starts to retain fat to counteract what it perceives as a shortage of food. Another problem with skipping meals is that when you finally eat you&#8217;ll be a lot more hungry. The result is binge eating. Skipping a meal plus binge eating, then, will likely result in eating more calories and the body gaining even more weight from those calories than normally. It&#8217;s the worst of both worlds. Don&#8217;t skip meals.<span id="more-31"></span></p>
<p>Know how much to eat. Portion control is just as important as eating the right food. Too much of even a healthy food still results in weight gain. Portion control isn&#8217;t easy when large portions are so common. Restaurants serve over large portions, as do most people at home. The FDA and other sources list recommended daily allowances. And remember portion size when you eat at restaurants, especially fast food restaurants. Don&#8217;t eat the full portion served at the restaurant, or order less than a full meal, such as soup and a salad.</p>
<p>Eat more whole grain foods, skip the white grains such as white bread, sugar and white rice. Whole grains are lower in fat and higher in nutrients. The fiber in whole grains will make you feel fuller faster and longer. Also whole grains contain many nutrients that are often lacking in people&#8217;s diets.</p>
<p>Consume more water. Drink it instead of juices and sodas which add about 90,000 calories to the average person&#8217;s diet each year. Drink water between meals too. In fact, the goal is 8 glasses of water each day. It&#8217;s easily possible. Drinking water will also promote health in general by keeping you well hydrated and cool.</p>
<p>Eat healthy snacks between meals. The body needs food every three to four hours to maintain proper blood sugar. Eating healthy snacks, such as fruits, helps control eating at meal times.</p>
<p>Fast weight loss is realistic with some knowledge and planning. Keep these things in mind and pretty soon you&#8217;ll see a slimmer you when you look into a mirror.</p>
