The symptoms of any diabetes types can be similar, however they may come with different ‘style’. Type 1 Diabetes symptoms usually come in sudden and it can be quite dramatic for the patients while type 2 diabetes symptoms usually developed in silent come with the age and in many cases obesity.

The most recognized symptoms of diabetes are the increasing thirst, frequent urination, blurry vision, tired, and losing weight.

Some diabetes patients, especially those left untreated may also experience fatigue, nausea and vomiting. The bodys inefficiency and sometimes inability to metabolize the food eaten triggers a compensatory mechanism – the body metabolizes fat and uses this as source of energy. This process uses more energy than it produces, leaving the person feeling tired or fatigued.

Another symptoms of diabetes is poor wound healing. The higher level of sugar in the bloodstream prevents the white blood cells from functioning properly. As a result, wound healing gets longer. The longer healing time also makes the wound more susceptible to infections.

You should see a doctor if you feel a any combination of these symptoms. A reasonable quality of life can still be attained if diabetes is managed properly.

If you suffer from diabetes, then one of the best things you can do for yourself is eat a healthy and nutritious diet. There is a multitude of different diabetes recipes that you can use, which are specifically formulated to be healthy for diabetics, and so not only are these diabetes recipes delicious but as well they will not cause problems with your diabetic condition.

Diabetes Recipes

There are really too many diabetes recipes to list, however there are a few that stand out from among the rest, one in particular being the black and white bean salad recipe. This recipe is incredibly easy, and all you need is 2 cups finely chopped onions, 2 tbsp. olive oil, 1/3 cup red wine vinegar, ¼ cup chopped red pepper, 2 tbsp. minced parsley, 2 cloves minced garlic, 2 tbsp. Equal Spoonful, ¼ tsp. salt, ¼ tsp. freshly ground pepper, 1 can great northern beans rinsed and drained, 1 can black beans rinsed and drained, and red pepper rings.

All you do to make this recipe is sauté the onions in oil in a medium skillet until they are crisp-tender, then remove them from the heat and let them cool until they are warm. Then you stir the vinegar, red pepper, parsley, garlic, Equal Spoonful, salt, pepper and onions together, and pour the onion mixture over combined beans in a bowl, mix well, and then garnish with the red pepper rings.

Another of the more popular diabetes recipes is the rice salad recipe, for which you will need 4 cups hot cooked rice, 1 can kidney beans rinsed and drained, 1 small onion chopped, ¼ cup vegetable oil, 2 tbsp. white vinegar, 1 tbsp. granulated sugar, 1 tbsp. pickle relish, 1 ½ tbsp. chili powder, and 1 medium green pepper chopped.

All you need to do to make this delicious rice salad is combine the rice, beans and onion, then in a separate bowl combine the oil, vinegar, sugar, relish and chili powder. Then you toss this with the rice mixture, and cover and let chill for several hours. Then, just before you are going to serve it, you stir in the green pepper.

There are numerous other recipes that you can choose from as well, and one great idea is to make yourself a recipe book filled with your favorite diabetes recipes, so that whenever you go to make a meal you just have to put out this book and you will have a mountain of options at your fingertips to choose from.

Diabetes Mellitus is one of the most costly burdensome chronic diseases of our time and is condition that is increasing in epidemic population in the whole world. The complications resulting from the diseases are a significant cause of morbidity and mortality and are associated with failure of various organs such as the eyes, kidneys and nerves. Diabetics are also at a significantly higher risk for coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease and stroke and they have a greater likelihood of having hypertension dyslipidemia and obesity.

What is Diabetes?

Diabetes is a serious disorder of the glands, of pancreas to be exact, called Madhumeha in Ayurveda. It is one of the most insidious disorders of the metabolism and, if left undiagnosed, may lead to rapid emaciation and ultimately death.

What are the types of Diabetes?

According to Ayurveda Diabetes is of two types: Diabetes Mellitus- Insulin dependent Juvenile Diabetes (IDDM-Type I) in which the body is unable to produce insulin and Non Insulin Dependent Adult Onset Diabetes (NIDDM-Type II) in which the pancreas produces insulin, but it is insufficient for reducing the blood glucose to normal levels.

What are the common symptoms of Type- 1 Diabetes? Some of the common symptoms of Type- 1 Diabetes are:

Excessive Thirst Frequent urination Unexplained weight loss Irritability Weakness Fatigue

What are the common symptoms of Type- 2 Diabetes? Some of the common symptoms of Type- 2 Diabetes are:

Loss off weight Numbness in hands or feet. Uncontrolled infections Pain in the limbs Inflammatory chest infections Dimness of vision, contrast Excessive thirst Body weakness

What are the different tests for Diabetes?

Urine Test: Some chemicals are added to a few drops of urine. Colour change indicates presence of glucose in urine.

Blood Test: In this, blood is taken to test the glucose level. This is more accurate test to confirm diabetes

Which parts of my body are affected by Diabetes?

Blood Vessels: Higher level of glucose damage the blood vessels. As a result of this most of the diabetic complications occur in blood vessels.

Heart: Diabetes affects the heart by: Increasing the amount of fat in blood and increasing the amount of homocysteine in blood.

Kidney: In diabetes because of increased levels of glucose, kidneys have to do extra work to retain essential substances and separate waste products to produce urine. This affects the small blood vessels and their capacity to filter. After many years of work, it leads to kidney failure.

Eyes: Diabetes affects blood vessels of the eyes. Damage to these blood vessels leads to eye problems like: Damage to retina, Cataract or total loss of vision

Foot: Damage to blood vessels reduces blood flow to the feet and increases risk of developing foot ulcers and infections.

Nerves: High glucose level for a long time damages nerves. Nerve damage reduces sensation in some parts of body which may lead to: Numbness and tingling, Fainting and dizziness

Home Remedies for Diabetes:

The best remedy for this disease is the bitter gourd, better known as ‘karela’. Eat this vegetable as often as you can or have at least one tablespoon of karela juice daily to reduce blood sugar levels in your blood and urine.

Amla, due to its vitamin C content is effective in controlling diabetes. A tablespoon of its juice, mixed with a cup of fresh bitter-gourd juice, taken daily for two months will secrete the pancreas and enable it to secrete insulin.

Take ten tulsi leaves, ten neem leaves and ten belpatras with a glass of water early morning on an empty stomach. It will work wonders in keeping your sugar levels under control.

The leaves of Butea tree are very useful in diabetes. They reduce blood sugar and are useful in glycousia.

Take two teaspoons of powdered Fenugreek seeds with milk. Two teaspoons of the seeds can also be swallowed whole, daily.

Eat 10 fresh fully grown curry leaves every morning for three months. It prevent diabetes due to heredity factors. It also cures diabetes due to obesity.

Just because you don’t have the symptoms doesn’t mean you don’t have. This may not always be true though and understanding the true nature of a type 2 diabetes symptoms may help save your life.

The Figures

Having the condition means that the cells in your body are not reacting properly to the work of insulin which is supposed to open up the cells to glucose. Without glucose in your cells you will have no clear source of energy.

Type 2 diabetes is actually the most common type of diabetes. It is estimated that at least 90% of diabetics belong to the type 2 category. The sad fact though is that more than 6% of diabetics are not aware that they have the condition. The lack of awareness may be due to a dismissal of seemingly harmless type 2 diabetes symptoms or a total lack of warning signs.

Different Symptoms

Compared to type 2 diabetes, type 1 is more difficult to handle since it involves the inability of the pancreas to perform its job of producing insulin. Despite the difference in cause however, both types of diabetes share the same symptoms. A diabetic might begin to feel frequently tired, thirsty and may have occasionally blurry vision and wounds that do not heal quickly.

The difference in the set of symptoms in types 1 and 2 is the onset. A type 1 diabetes symptom can develop rapidly and worsen in the span of a few weeks. Even with the rapid symptom development however, cell damage may already have been occurring for some time before type 1 diabetes is finally discovered. A type 2 diabetes symptom on the other hand is not as obvious and as bad as a type 1 symptom.

Effects of No Symptoms

Non-detection of type 2 diabetes may be dangerous and risky. The key to effectively managing this chronic disease is early detection. Once you fail to detect a type 2 diabetes symptom however, you can suffer from complications that are even more difficult to reverse. Some diabetics only realize that they have type 2 diabetes because of complications like retinopathy, heart ailments, kidney problems and nerve deaths. A complication is therefore their only type 2 diabetes symptom.

Uncommon Risk Factors

Being overweight and a family history of diabetes are known signs that should alert even those individuals who do not experience a single type 2 diabetes symptom. You should however also consider yourself at high risk of developing diabetes if you are over 45 years old, had a baby over 9 pounds and had a history of gestational diabetes or pre diabetes. For undetermined reasons, individuals who are Asian, African, Hispanic and American are at greater risk of developing diabetes.

What Has to be Done

Naturally, you would need to consult experts in diabetes to help you manage your condition or your type 2 diabetes symptom. There are however basic things you should remember on your own. You should monitor your glucose levels, take your medication as prescribed, follow your diet and exercise plans and watch and manage your weight.

Diabetes mellitus is a very complicated disease that has an affect on many different parts of your body. When we think of diabetes management we wouldn’t normally think of using things from right out of your own kitchen. When combating diabetes you probably are willing to look just about anywhere to get a little relief from it. Never forget that some of the best aids can be found in the most simplest of places which are usually right under your nose.

Diabetes management is a huge step in your daily regimen when it comes to combating diabetes which is a troublesome and sometimes deadly disease. Never forget there is no cure for diabetes mellitus but there are ways to take control of it and make it seem as though it is non-existent in your life. So what are you waiting for let’s jump right in and take a look at some natural home remedies used to control diabetes.

Peanut butter is a great follow up to a correction of low blood sugar. Using natural peanut butter provides needed protein as well as carbohydrates that are lost when you combat a bout of low blood sugar.

If you suffer from Type 1 Diabetes and are taking insulin a plastic container can be your best friend. You can place your extra vials of insulin in the container which will keep them safe and all in one spot.

Salt can be a great aid for a diabetic if they have a bout of dry and itchy skin. All you need to do is take 1 cup of regular old table salt or sea salt and add to your bathwater.

Now for one that just might surprise you, sugar. Even diabetics will have the need to use sugar every now and then. When your blood sugar gets too low just grab a spoon of straight sugar or a cube of it and a piece of hard candy will also work.

Vinegar is a great help when it comes to getting rid of muscle cramps. All you do here is add 8 ounces of vinegar, the apple cider type, to your warm bath and soak in it for at least fifteen minutes to gain some relief.

One last thing you can use to aid in your control of diabetes is a fork. Yes it may sound strange but use a fork instead of a spoon or the container to add salad dressing or any other type of sauce over your food.

These are just a few of the natural home remedies that are out there to help you control diabetes mellitus. Just give them a try and if they don’t seem to work for you move on to another one of the many remedies. You will eventually find at least one or two that will work for you.
